Pinoy Dream Academy invites you for musical excellence, where you can develop
your talents and transform yourself into an artist.
You will live and work together with the other scholars in an Academy where you
will receive lessons everyday in different disciplines from various teachers.
You will have to strictly follow the timetable.
This document attempts to cover all the rules of the Academy that relate to the
conduct and system that you and your co-scholars have to observe; what you can
and cannot do, and what you can expect from the Pinoy Dream Academy team.
The general principle is that all decisions are taken by the Pinoy Dream Academy
team and they are not open to appeal.
The Academy
The Academy contains zones that the scholars will not be allowed to use. These
will be signposted clearly. And while there is a ban in place, none of the
scholars will be allowed to set foot in those areas, open the door or cross the
line, etc.
The scholars will not, under any circumstances, be allowed to touch the cameras
and microphones installed in the Academy.
Life in Pinoy Dream Academy
On the first day, scholars will be provided with a curriculum, which they are
required to respect such as keeping within time schedules, etc. The curriculum
will change during the course of their stay. The Headmaster will advise of
changes in advance.
Training will begin after breakfast. Meals will be provided for the scholars at
set times, except on their rest day. Every rest day, which will fall on Sundays,
the scholars will cook for themselves. The production team will ask the scholars
in advance of the items they need for their cooking on their rest day.
Contact with the Outside World
All scholars will have limited contact with the outside world. It is in their
best interest not to get too involved in their image and general gossip outside.
Scholars should not ask friends, family and other people they come into contact
with, as regards their appearance or how they are being portrayed in the
program.
Reading material, television, information of current events will be available to
the scholars at regular intervals at the discretion of the producer.
Living And Learning Quarters
Scholars Living Quarters
Comprise of boys and girls bedrooms, kitchen area, boys and girls bathroom
facilities, living room, dining and recreation area. The cleaning of these areas
is the responsibility of the scholars. The production team will provide cleaning
equipment and materials, fresh beddings and towels weekly.
Learning Quarters
Comprise of a dance studio, piano room and recording studio. The director and
tutor’s office together with 2 classrooms are also located here. The learning
quarters, along with other areas, such as the office/library, telephone room and
chat room, will be cleaned and maintained by the production team.
Bathrooms And Dormitories
Behind the communal toilets for both sexes, there are two different bathroom
zones containing separate showers for men and women. All the scholars will be
able to wash there. The showers and toilets will have hot water for the
scholars.
Scholars must shower one at a time, outside class schedule.
You will be able to decide among yourselves on your sleeping arrangements, all
girls in one room, all boys in the other room.
You must respect the way in which the bed’s headboards have been arranged by the
production team.
When the scholars go to bed, they must place their microphones next to their
headboards in a specially designed receptacle.
The dormitories will remain locked during the activity hours in the Academy.
They will only be opened by the producer with special permission from the
Headmaster for the purpose of collecting an object that the scholar may need.
The door will then be immediately locked again. For this reason, we advise all
scholars not to forget anything when they are getting dressed and ready to start
the activities.
Smoking is not permitted in the entire academy.
Microphones And Cameras
Every scholar will be obliged to wear a microphone throughout the day, and will
only be allowed to take it off when he or she goes to bed, swims in the pool or
takes a shower, or with permission from the Headmaster.
It is strictly forbidden to cover the microphones, walk around without them,
whisper in the ear of another scholar, express himself using sign language or
speak in a voice that cannot be picked up by the microphones. If this occurs,
the production team will judge whether or not it is intentional and act
accordingly.
The living, learning and other recreational areas are fitted with visible,
hidden and night view cameras. Microphones have also been placed in all areas so
that the progress of the scholars and tutors can be monitored 24 hours everyday.
On occasions that the scholars leave the Academy, e.g. for the weekly live
shows, recording sessions and special events, an outside broadcast crew with
cameras and sound equipment, together with production personnel will always
accompany the scholars. The material recorded will be used in the episodes as
selected by the production team.
Rest Day
The scholars will have one free day per week. On the free day, the scholars may
be allowed to see family on a rotation basis at the Academy, should they wish.
Visits will be made by appointment and organized by the production team and the
scholars. The scholars are not allowed to ask anyone they come in contact with
for information concerning their participation in the program. Visits will be
curtailed if this rule is broken.
Laundry
A washing machine and spin dryer will be available in the living quarters for
use by the scholars.
Cleaning of sheets, towels will be arranged by production.
Special Events
During the project, the scholars will leave the Academy, at the discretion of
the producer, for different activities ranging from recording sessions, weekly
live shows, styling, shopping, attending or taking part in concerts, meeting
various people, forms of entertainment, television appearances, press
conferences, etc.
These trips are not optional and scholars will be expected to cooperate. The
Headmaster or the production team will advise scholars of all arrangements.
Scholars will always be accompanied by an outside broadcast crew, and production
team member.
Listening Room
The scholars will be called at regular intervals to a private room to answer
questions and give their comments and feelings on camera.
Medical Needs
In the event that a medical problem arises that cannot be dealt with at the
Academy, the doctor on duty together with the scholar and/or their family will
make arrangements for treatment outside of the facility. In cases where the
scholar will have to be away from the Academy for more than 24 hours, the
producer will decide and advise the scholar if s/he can still continue with the
contest. It may be necessary for the scholar to be replaced. This also applies
for other personal matters arising when scholars need to leave the Academy. Each
case will be evaluated individually.
Dental treatment will be dealt with by appointment and a dental practitioner
will be called in. In many cases, dental treatment will be on a temporary basis
and scholars will have to undergo treatment when they leave the program at their
own expense.
Discipline
The Pinoy Dream Academy’s course is condensed. All scholars should be prepared
to work hard and show dedication to the project. They should be prepared to give
100% effort for the duration of their stay and should also respect the efforts
of the teachers, the Headmaster and the other scholars. The Headmaster has the
authority to exclude any scholar from any tutoring sessions for bad behavior,
tardiness, etc.
Any scholar not respecting the other students, the home viewer and Pinoy Dream
Academy will be asked to leave. The producer can then decide to replace the
scholar.
Leaving The Academy
Voluntary Departure
All scholars may leave the Academy at any point during the program. If a scholar
decides to leave, s/he will have to inform the Headmaster or the producer. Once
the scholar has walked thru the exit door, there will be no turning back and
their participation from then on is null and void. They will not be allowed to
enter into any recording contract within 12 months from the date of their
departure from the academy.
If a new scholar arrives after the voluntary departure, the following rules will
apply:
The scholars will have to speed up the new person on their way of life.
The scholars will not be allowed to ask the new person anything relating to the
outside world.
New scholars will not be allowed to tell others anything about the outside world
as well.
New scholars can not be nominated on the first week after he/she has entered the
Academy.
In the event that either of the last two rules is broken, the production team
may reprimand the one responsible.
Forced Departure
The producer has the right to terminate any person’s participation for bad
behavior. Should it be decided that their participation causes in any way
distress or lack of respect to other scholars, viewers or the program format in
general. They will not be allowed to enter into any recording contract for 12
months from the date of their departure.
Obligatory Departure
Another way of leaving the Academy is by being nominated and then not saved by
the public. Major violations or misbehavior as determined by the Headmaster and
the production team may result to obligatory departure.
Accidents & Illnesses
In the event of an accident, there is always a first aid kit in the Academy,
located in a drawer of one of the vanity cabinets near the ladies’ bedroom. If
any of the scholars falls ill, there is always a doctor available on call. The
microphones are switched on 24 hours a day. You can always use them to indicate
if medical help is needed. If someone has toothache dental assistance is also
available.
Emergencies
In the event of fire or some other kind of disaster, the scholars must pay
attention to the directions that will be given by means of the loud. They must
follow these instructions immediately for their own safety. |
